Fruit Market Community Grows! Phase 2 Brook Street is now complete

Phase 2 of Fruit Market is now complete, bringing a new collection of design-led, low-energy homes to the heart of Sneinton Market. We had a fantastic response with many of the properties now sold and several residents have already moved. 

For the first time, you can now seeFruit Market as it was intended: Phase 1 was completed last year, with the addition of Phase 2, Fruit Market is beginning to feel like its own community, a neighbourhood built around gardens, shared spaces and contemporary city living.

Designed by Nottingham architects Letts Wheeler, the homes continue the ideas established in Phase 1: generous windows, high ceilings, carefully considered proportions and a strong connection between the interior and outside space.

Brook Street adds 13 new homes, arranged around two private shared courtyards. The architecture changes subtly in this phase with a new grey brick colour, cream windows and curved wall details. The result is the most contemporary look within the development, while still feeling disconnected from the older buildings of Sneinton.

The Courtyard Garden is planted

One of the final pieces of Phase 2 has also been one of the most important: the new courtyard garden has now been planted.

The shared garden was one of the most successful ideas in Phase 1. As the planting there has matured, it has created a surprisingly green and peaceful space in the middle of the city. Phase 2 takes the same approach, with extensive planting creating a private greenspace outside your back door.

It changes the character of the development. Rather than houses facing hard landscaping, homes open towards a garden that will continue to establish itself and change with the seasons.Large sliding doors in the three-bedroom homes extend the main living spaces outside, while many properties have upper terraces looking back across the garden.

The homes are completely gas-free, with air-source heat pumps, underfloor heating, high levels of insulation and high-performance windows contributing to a low-energy specification. There is density, activity and city life outside the front door
