Broadway Cinema

A longstanding jewel in Nottingham’s cultural landscape. The internationally renowned independent cinema showcasing the best in new and old movies, cult classics and documentaries lies on the doorstep, just a few minutes walk from Fruit Market.

Founded in 1982, Broadway is an iconic independent cinema and one of the first in the UK to bring independent and international film to a wider audience. Over its 40 year history the Broadway has expanded to become a four screen cinema with a stylish interior with an excellent cafe bar. As well as showing a mix of independent cinema and the must see blockbusters, The Broadway’s cafe bar is a real hub for the local community; its large and comfortable interior is a great space to work if you need to find somewhere alternative to sit with your laptop and it’s a great place to hangout with friends at the weekend.

The building is also home to some of Nottingham’s brightest film-makers such as Jeanie Finlay and Ben Wigley. Named ‘one of the best cinemas in the world’ by Total Film in 2009. Only two minutes walk from Fruit Market, Broadway is a bit like having a cinema in your front room.

In recent years Broadway has also added a small gallery at the rear of the building which includes working with local artists and communities. Curated as part of the ‘Near Now’ programme, there is often great opportunities to get involved in their programme so follow their website and social media for more information.
